The fete will be held at Rudgwick Social Club from 11am until 4pm on Friday August 7 and will be raising money for the Young Minds charity.

It’s been organised as part of the National Citizen Service (NCS) – a project that is delivered in the West Sussex by the County Council’s Young People’s Service. The programme offers young people the chance to build skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends.

One of the projects the young people are asked to undertake is to plan a social action project.

The group decided to raise awareness for mental health as they noticed the over-growing need for support and awareness of mental health in our society and want to change this.

“There are an increasing number of teenagers suffering in silence as they are unaware of the support systems available outside friends and family and some young people feel as if they have nowhere to turn.

“Anyone can come along to our summer fete – there will be local singers providing entertainment, as well as food, drink and a number of stalls.

“Speakers will be present to give information about what support is available for people who want to find out more.

“We would really appreciate any donations possible, and would like thank everyone who has already made contributions to our cause.”

The Horsham NCS group is made up of 16 young people - Becca Cavallo, Thomas Russell, Maximilian Donovan, Lucy Attwood, Lauren Judd, Hannah Haines, Kitty Ingarfield, Kirsten Armer, Lydia Payne, Rachel Clark, Stelios Pavlou, Ashleigh Mason, Jaida Thomas-Wild, Lucy Elliott, Jodie Garrick and Finlay Whittle.

They are supported by four youth workers: Paul Peacock, Tom Legget, Lisa Jane Orford, Lisa Catt.
