Cowfold fete committee holds presentation

The ‘highlight of the presentation’ was to officially hand over a handsome ornamental bench. This was delightfully crafted by the Camilia Botnar Foundation in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and was donated by the Fete Committee to the village from last year’s fete funding proceeds.

John Blythe, Chair of the fete committee presented the bench to Cowfold Parish Council Chairman Vic Allmond and the bench will now sit proudly on the Cowfold village green.

This was followed by two cheques, each for a £1,000 pounds, being presented to two very worthy and important causes as part of urgently needed funding.

The first was to a recently formed group called Cowfold Safer Roads, a committee who are already extremely active and intend to raise awareness and funds in a bid to purchase ‘traffic calming’ signs for displaying on Cowfold roads.

The second group was PART (Area Response Team) covering Partridge Green and Cowfold. Anne Marshall (Cowfold rep.) received the cheque on behalf of PART to pay for training for a second Cowfold-based rep. Craig Daly and will help Cowfold in having two people on call within the village.

Summing up the morning presentations John Blythe said: “How so much pleasure, good will and great benefit derives from holding an annual village fete.

“Above all however, local people spending money on the day ultimately results in funding worthwhile projects and benefitting the whole local community.”
