Care home fundraise for Little Maxwell

Westergate House Care Home in Fontwell, held an Afternoon Tea Party to raise money for a projector to be purchased for a local child called Maxwell, who lives with his parents in Storrington.

Maxwell is a gorgeous little boy, who at the age of 9 months went from being a healthy baby to needing continuous medical support.

Maxwell has Mitrochondrial disease, he is now two years old and his condition requires him to have either his parents or a nurse with him at all times.

The projector will enhance Maxwell’s daily life creating a colourful and stimulating environment during those times when he is at home, so enhancing his imagination and sense of wonder.

The Tea Party was a huge success, supported by the homes residents, relatives, staff and the local and wider community. Businesses generously donated raffle prizes including Goodwood Racecourse, West Ham United Football Club, Charlton Athletic Football Club, Arundel Castle, Avisford Park Hotel and Aspinals of London to name a few.

Westergate were hoping to raise enough money to buy Maxwell a projector....... but the afternoons events far exceeded any expectations and at the last count an amazing £1,212.37 had been raised.

Maxwell’s father Pete said of the day: “It’s amazing what you guys have done to help myself and Emma look after Maxwell. You are part of the family now, thank-you thank-you thank-you!”

Ann Burch, Head of Care at the home and friend of the family said: “The afternoon has exceeded all our expectations, I am so grateful for everyone’s support and we can’t wait to deliver the new projector to Maxwell personally.”
