Burgess Hill girls learn forensics

Year 6 children learned forensic techniques to help them solve a fictional murder case.

The event was run by Burgess Hill School for Girls on Friday 17th January and children from nine schools attended to carry out experiments in the Senior School Science labs.

The experiments included identifying hair and pollen samples under a microscope, identifying finger prints with a magnifying glass and using Bunsen burners to test chemicals from the ‘crime scene’.

The schools involved were Burgess Hill School for Girls, Albourne C.E.P School, Balcombe C.E Primary School, Bolney C.E.P School, Bolnore Village Primary School, St Augustine’s CE Primary School, St Giles C.E Primary School in Horsted Keynes, St Peter’s CE Primary School in Cowfold, Twineham C.E Primary School and Warninglid Primary.
