Despite the rain, friends and relatives arrived to meet guest of honour, the Bishop of Guildford, Rt Revd Andrew Watson.

Also in attendance was the High Sheriff of Surrey, Mrs Elizabeth Kennedy and the Mayor of Waverley, Mike Band. Everyone was entertained by a rousing performance by the Lammas Bell ringers of Godalming as well as an outstanding performance by The Choir from St Nicholas C of E School, Cranleigh.

Taking a chance during the break from the rain, many guests collected outside to launch a host of balloons into the Cranleigh sky.

Each balloon was purchased and the total amounted to over £250 which will be donated to Alzheimer’s Society.

New Manager, Nyms Sithole, witnessing her first event at Cedar Court, said: “Everyone who came along had a smile on their face.
