Afternoon of fun at wacky sports day

It was a great afternoon of fun with all year 12 students involved in the annual ‘Wacky Sports Day’ event at Steyning Grammar School, Sixth Form College.

There was a real carnival atmosphere with students and teachers dressed up in a variety of outfits, ready to have fun and compete in a selection of ‘Wacky’ events.

The first event was the ‘wheel barrow sprint on all fours’, followed by a good old fashioned game of ‘Tug of War’, ‘Tomato Javelin’ and some water fun with ‘Water Balloon Volleyball’ and the very popular ‘Slip and Slide’ event.

The ‘Blue Ribbon’ event of the day being the Wacky Vehicle Race, with all modes of crazy transport – a selection of Wheel Barrows, Go Karts, prams, trolleys, mini tractors & inflatable boats on wheels. Most vehicles held up and managed to cross the finish line with the winners being the Flintstones team, carrying a team member down the course on a surf board!

The overall games winners were teacher Luke Talbot’s learning mentor group, who won the prestigious ‘Gold Boot’ award.

Well Done to all those who dressed up and got involved, its nice to know that our tradition of working hard and playing hard continues up until the end of term.
