LETTER: '˜Some' cyclists ride anywhere

Further to G. Citroni's note on the Opinion page of 12 May, I totally agree that '˜some' cyclists seem to think that they can ride anywhere.

We are lucky to have an excellent footpath facility along the Upper Beeding riverbank which enables access for wheelchairs, prams and mobility scooters.

The idea behind this hard-standing footpath was to enable less able-bodied and families to enjoy the riverbank and surrounding scenery.

The footpath is for these users, walkers, dog walkers and runners to enjoy, not cyclists.

There is clear signage to support this so why do ‘some’ cyclists feel that the footpath is for them and do not use the bridleway which takes them on a slightly different route?

When you politely point this out to a cyclist you get ignored or looked at as if you are talking nonsense.

Cyclists ‘please’ stick to the designated bridleways so that we can all enjoy the countryside in a safe manner.
