LETTER: Oustanding educations

On behalf of Aurora Academies Trust, we would like to reassure LN Price (readers' letters September 15) that, as a charity, we are not motivated by profit but by the desire to provide an outstanding education to our pupils.

Our application proposes adding to the existing education provision in Horsham by opening an all-through state school for pupils aged 4-16.

This will give local parents an additional choice and will help to meet the demand for more school places.

Academies now account for 26 per cent of state funded schools in England including 60 per cent of secondary schools.

According to the New Schools Network, free schools are more likely to be judged as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted than all other schools.

If our proposal is successful, The Horsham School would seek to work closely with established schools in the town for the benefit of the community as a whole.
