LETTER: Abstentions at Hop Oast vote

I was interested to note that only one local councillor who objected to the Hop Oast application had the courage to vote against, the others when realising it was to be a recorded vote were obviously concerned to be named and shamed and pathetically abstained.

Can someone explain to me how having spent a couple of years noisily opposing this application when it comes to a vote they abstain?

John Maher

Hurst Road, Horsham

-

Editor’s note: the Hop Oast football ground application was approved by 19 votes to one with two abstentions at last Tuesday’s Horsham District Council Planning Committee North meeting. Connor Relleen (Ind, Horsham Park) was the only councillor to vote against, with both John Chidlow and Claire Vickers (Con, Southwater) abstaining.
