The Olympic Torch made a surprise visit to Millais School on Thursday 28 June.
The entire school gathered around the perimeter of the hockey pitch unaware that the torch was in school, having been told there was to be a surprise.
Both girls and staff were thrilled when the torch appeared and was paraded in front of the school by this year’s sporting prize winners.
Deputy Head Mike Sutton said: “This was a real coup for the school and it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the girls to see the torch up close and be photographed with it.”
The torch will be run through a number of local towns on July 17.
