Newly transformed bank supports charity at launch

The Horsham branch of NatWest showed its support for local children’s charity Action Medical Research by raising £186 at its recent launch.

The branch in the Carfax, which has been given a makeover as part of a £450m investment into upgrading branches across the UK, officially celebrated its transformation by welcoming customers old and new on Friday May 6.

Joining the fun was Paddington BearTM, Action Medical Research’s official mascot, who helped to cut the ribbon when the new look was unveiled.

“We’re delighted to have the support of our local branch of NatWest and it was great to see so many people meeting Paddington and joining the fight for little lives,” says Paula Ray, the charity’s community fundraising manager for the region.

“There are hundreds of thousands of children in the UK whose lives are devastated by disease and disability. It’s too many. Far too many. Research can put a stop to this, but Action Medical Research needs help which is why support like this is so valuable.”

For more than 60 years Action Medical Research, which has its headquarters on North Parade, has helped pioneer treatments and ways to prevent disease that have benefited millions of people in the UK and across the world. Research it’s funded has helped to beat polio in the UK, develop ultrasound in pregnancy, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths.

It is currently funding research into premature birth, epilepsy and Down syndrome, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
