A FREE taster session of the Mary Portas guide to successful retailing is available in Horsham, for shop owners and managers in the Gatwick Diamond.
It follows the arrival of the Central South East Retail Skills Shop to the region – supported by Central Sussex College. It is leading a partnership of four colleges to provide a unique training experience for retailers.
This includes two specialist training ‘shops’ which will offer courses developed to meet the needs of retailers in the area.
Project manager Mary Goodchild said: “Central Sussex College is proud to be part of this exciting initiative to support retailers with the development and proficiency of their workforce. Whether it is for local people hoping to get back into work, or national retailers looking to train their existing workforce, the Retail Skills Shop will bring a timely boost to the retails sector in the South East.”
The National Skills Academy now has more than 40 training centres established across the UK, offering a range of qualifications including diplomas, apprenticeships and customer service programmes.
Jane Rexworthy, head of National Skills Academy for Retail said: “We are delighted to be welcoming the Central South East Retail Skills Shop into the National Skills Academy for Retail. It will provide excellent opportunities for retail workers in the area.”
Free taster sessions of the Mary Portas guide to successful retailing are available on March 3 at Central Sussex College’s Horsham Training Centre (10am – 2pm) and at City College Brighton (2pm – 4pm).
