New masterplan for Horsham Novartis site to go on display

A second round of consultation on the former home of the pharmaceutical giant, in Wimblehurst Road, will taking place at the end of the month as West Sussex County Council continues to create a plan for a mixed scheme of housing and business at the site.

The council, which purchased the site for £16m in 2016, said it had listened to feedback from the previous public consolation last month and had now created a ‘revised masterplan’.

It said two-thirds of the site is still proposed to be turned into commercial development with the rest made into houses.

Horsham Enterprise Park to replace Novartis site

The plans will be on display at the Holbrook Club, in North Heath Lane, on Tuesday October 30 from midday until 8pm. Experts will be on hand again to answer questions and listen to residents feedback on the revised plans.

More than 150 people attended last month’s consultation which outlined the area was set to be split into three areas; housing, business and socialising.

A 25,000m² employment and enterprise zone - dubbed Horsham Enterprise Park - was proposed along with 300 new homes and the retention of the 1930s Art Deco building. For more on see our previous story: New plans for Horsham Novartis unveiled

Those unable to attend the meeting can view the plans online (www.westsussex.gov.uk/horshamenterprisepark) from October 31 where they can also leave feedback. The deadline for comments will be 16 November.

The county council said it was expecting to submit a planning application for the site later this year.
