Disaster struck at Shoreham Airshow today when an aircraft hit the ground and burst into flames.
Eyewitnesses said the Hawker Hunter, piloted by Andy Hill, suddenly lost height and came down near to the north end of the airfield.
The pilot is believed to have been performing a loop when the accident happened.
One section of the plane broke off, coming down in flames around 200 yards from the crash site.
Smoke and flames are still pouring from the wreckage.
At present, all air displays at the show are suspended.
