MAGAZINE: The safest second-hand cars to get you on your summer holidays
With millions about to take to the roads around Britain as the summer holiday period starts in earnest, getting safely to our holiday destination is the priority.
The majority of cars on our roads are second hand, but when buying a second hand car, how many of us consider the safety aspects?
A new study from Co-op Insurance shows more than half of car buyers didn’t ask about any safety features on their current motor and just 4% placed car safety at the top of their buying criteria.
Huge advances have been made to the driver, passenger and pedestrian safety, yet less than one in 10 asked about star ratings when buying their last car.
As part of their commitment to important community issues Co-op Insurance have teamed up with Thatcham – the UK’s official crash test centre - to devise a formula ranking Britain’s safest affordable used cars, providing unique insight into choosing the safest car for your family and improving road safety in local communities.
So which car won the Safest Second Hand Car award? Here to tell us more and explain what we should look out for is motoring journalist Quentin Wilson and Mike Bristow from the Brake Road Safety Charity. For all this and more watch the video
