The West Sussex County Times has been reporting the news for nearly 150 years. But now it is making the news itself. It is changing its size from broadsheet to compact – otherwise known as tabloid – with a stunning new look created by some of the world’s top newspaper designers.
Your new County Times will also have a range of new features – as well as all the old favourites. And its local news and sports coverage will be better than ever before.
To mark this major investment in your newspaper we want to say a big thank you to you.
The celebrations will begin on the morning of Thursday, May 31 when the new compact County Times is published.
Come and meet us outside the historic County Times offices in Market Square, Horsham, at 10am for a wonderful group photograph – when the editor in chief will present the chairman of Horsham District Council with the first copy of the new-look paper.
We hope as many readers as wish to join us and can be safely accommodated outside our offices in Market Square will join in this momentous occasion and a giant photograph of all present will be taken to be featured in the following week’s edition.
Clearly, the size of Market Square and public safety considerations may place a limit on how many can attend – but we do hope you will seek to join us.
To ensure public safety, please RSVP your acceptance to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to the County Times offices by Tuesday May 29.
The Thursday, May 31 edition of the County Times will contain a special cut-out voucher.
If you bring it to Swan Walk shopping centre at 11am, the first 500 readers to hand over the form will receive from the Editor a special gift envelope.
Some of these envelopes will contain a lottery ticket, others a £5 note, in yet others there will be a host of special prizes – including luxury meals and other mystery gifts. There will also be the chance to receive a Sony television courtesy of the Sony Centre, in Swan Walk.
We will repeat this special giveaway too, the following Thursday, with another form published in that paper – same time, same place.
In all, the County Times will hand readers £1,000 in cash and lottery tickets as well as some fabulous mystery prizes.
So don’t miss out – but remember, each giveaway is strictly limited to the first 500 people to present the coupon and there is a minimum age of 18. All envelopes must be opened at the time and we will be taking photographs of the great occasion.
In next week’s issue we will also be launching again our hugely popular special cash for schools promotion.
We will be encouraging parents to collect the mastheads from the County Times (the name of the paper on the top of the front page) which we will convert to cash for your school.
Full details of all these celebrations will appear in next week’s County Times.
It will be the first compact County Times – but, more than ever before, it will be bursting with news, features, offers, and wonderful value.
And while it may look different – easier to handle and more attractive to read – it will have the same traditions: standing up for family values and the best journalistic ethics.
So join us next Thursday.
A new look. A new outlook. Highlighting what matters to you.
And don’t forget, you can take out an annual subscription which will hold the price of each copy at an average of only 48p per week. We are expecting demand to be very high for the first compact County Times published on Thursday, May 31. It will be a collectors’ edition. So order your copy today – and every week of the year!
