Jazz supper in Steyning to support good causes

Steyning Jazz Club and local Rotary clubs are hosting an evening of music from Wally's Wheeltappers and food by Chez Joel.

A statement from the club said: “The evening is intended to celebrate great jazz, whilst raising greatly needed funds and support for local charities such as Steyning First Responders, St Barnabas Hospice, The Salvation Army and Friends of Lancing College. Also Steyning Grammar School and The Shelterbox Scheme for flood relief.

“We are delighted this distinctive evening will feature the hot Trad/Dixie ‘Wheeltappers’ jazz with a line-up featuring Peter Dorday cornet, Eddie Brockwell clarinet, John Davidson trombone, Graham Cox banjo, Stan Tofield sousaphone, and maestro and leader Howard Walters on percussion, drums and ironing board.”

Tickets (£15, including supper) are on sale at Steyning Book Shop. There will also be a wide range of lottery prizes and a bar. The event will be at Steyning Jazz Club, Fletcher’s Croft, on Saturday April 23, doors open from 7.30pm. Information: Denis Cummings (01903) 814017.
