Investigation underway after man was fatally injured in workplace accident

Police and Health and Safety experts are investigating after a man died in an accident at Rudgwick Brickworks.

Sussex Police say a 60 year old man was injured when a sheet metal rolling machine toppled over at the brickworks in Lynwick Street, Rudgwick, at 1.45pm on Friday July 15.

“Emergency services were called but sadly the man died at the scene,” said a statement from Sussex Police.

“He is not being named at this stage as formal identification has not yet taken place.

“The Health and Safety Executive and Sussex Police are investigating the circumstances to see what offences, if any, may have been committed, but enquiries are at an early stage and there are no further details at this stage.”
