One of Horsham’s most important and popular sporting events, which started in 1908, will not be returning to the town next year.

In today’s County Times, the popular Horsham Festival of Cricket is not on next year’s Sussex fixture list, a campaigning group has sent Christmas cards to the Prime Minister, and an actor asked his girlfriend to marry him on stage in a romantic show of affection.

Police officers executed three simultaneous raids as part of a drugs crackdown, a new mobile skateboarding ramp will be introduced, and plans to build a multi-million pound hospice have been submitted.

Meanwhile, the antics of a television prankster in Horsham have been revealed, a popular store has reopened after a facelift, and a wedding photographer has picked up a prestigious award.

In our South Downs edition, a chicken breeder fears for her business after clucking cockerels prompted complaints, three men have been jailed for a bungled burglary, and a woman is campaigning to reduce the speed limit on a rural country road.

In sport, Horsham’s rugby outfit have taken a step closer to playing at Twickenham, we look at the future of Sussex cricket in the town, and feature all the usual match reports from local sport.

We also have pages of readers’ letters, readers’ news, business, jobs, motors, and our WOW entertainments guide.
