Icy grip hits West Sussex

DRIVERS and walkers faced ice on roads and pavements this morning as temperatures plunged to 24F in West Sussex.

Flurries of snow hit the district last night but did not settle in most places because the ground was wet.

But overnight tumbling temperatures turned some part if the area into a skating rink.

With snow forecast across most of the country at the weekend one of the coldest recorded starts to Christmas showed little sign of easing up.
