A team of night nurses from St Catherine’s Hospice are getting ready to swap the wards for the streets of Horsham on Saturday to take part in St Catherine’s annual Midnight Walk.
Sue White is just one of the team taking part.
She said: “Being a nurse at St Catherine’s I see the difference that our care makes, and how privileged we are to be caring for and helping all our lovely patients their families and friends at such an important time. We truly can make a difference and that’s why I’m doing the Midnight Walk: so that our care can continue.”
Nearly 400 ladies have signed up to this year’s walk, which takes place on Saturday July 2, starting and finishing at Horsham Park. Many women taking part have personal experience of St Catherine’s care.
The beach themed event sponsored by Assurity Consulting promises to be a fantastic evening.
The night always has an electric atmosphere. Walkers can expect a fun warm-up, welcome drink, return breakfast, goody bag and medal in return for their efforts pounding the pavements.
Additionally, by taking part and raising just £150 in sponsorship, you’ll be funding a St Catherine’s night nurse, like Sue, enabling patients to benefit from expert night time care for the duration of the challenge. What’s more all walkers who raise £350 or more will receive an exclusive, Midnight Walk hoody and special invite to a Champagne on the Lawns thank you event.
Louise Brown, events fundraiser at St Catherine’s, said: “Our Midnight Walk is a highlight of our year. It’s always lovely to see so many women come together and enjoy a fun night, while raising vital funds to help us support local people with a life-limiting illness. Every day, we need to raise more than £17,000 to provide our care and all sponsorship money from our Midnight Walk goes directly towards helping patients and their family and friends.”
