Meg – who teaches weekly yoga classes in Horsham and Worthing, as well as residential retreats in the UK and overseas – welcomed around 100 attendees to her fourth annual Yoga with Meg Christmas class on Sunday ,November 25.

Fellow yoga teacher Louise Edwards joined Meg to teach the yoga enthusiasts at the hour long class.

Voluntary contributions raised £1,112.50 for the charity MIND.

Meg Thompson, owner of Yoga with Meg, said: “I was overwhelmed by the number of yogis who attended on Sunday.

“I’m thrilled that we raised over £1,000 on the day and we still have contributions coming in via our JustGiving page! Mental health is a big conversation at the moment – and rightly so. Not only have we raised funds but also awareness of the awesome work that MIND does. Thank you to everyone who came along. Your efforts will benefit an incredibly worthy cause!”

MIND provides advice and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem. The charity campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health issues, with the aim of ensuring that everyone gets the support they need.

The charity’s infoline offers callers confidential advice for the price of a local call and a further legal line provides information on mental health-related law to the public, service users, family members/carers, mental health professionals and mental health advocates.

Policy work is another aspect of the charity’s work.

Meg added: “When I was considering which charity to support this year, I read on MIND’s website that every two hours, someone in England or Wales takes their own life.

“That is a shocking statistic and one that can’t be ignored.

“Mental health is something that is likely to affect all of us, at some point in our lives – either directly or through a personal connection to someone else. MIND believe that no one should face a mental health problem alone, and I strongly agree.”
