Emergency services were called to the Carfax at around 2.30pm.

“The person, a woman in her 50s, thankfully hasn’t been seriously injured.

“She has been discharged at the scene.”

The spokesperson added the woman was given worsening advice, meaning that she should contact paramedics if she develops symptoms.

The driver is believed to have been uninjured in the crash.

Two fire engines, three police cars, an ambulance and a paramedic car were called to the town centre after a blue Jaguar crashed into the Cook shop.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said a woman had been ‘squashed’ in the collision.
