Alan Swainson, Trevor Dunbrill and Sean Garnham were completing their morning rounds in Partridge Green on Monday (October 15) when they came across the 92-year-old lying in the grass.

The trio jumped out of the lorry and rushed to help the elderly man and his carer, using their waterproof jackets to keep the pensioner warm. The team then stayed with the pair for the next hour whilst they waited for paramedics arrived

In a letter to the council the pensioner’s carer heaped praise on the team.

They said: “The three men were absolutely amazing with all their help and support. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and good will. I am not sure what I would of done without them to shine some light on the unfortunate situation and offer their help whilst we waited for medical services. I think they deserve a formal thank you from Horsham offices and would like to commend them for the service they offered us during this crisis. It was above and beyond their call of duty and I am truly grateful.”

The council said it was incredibly proud of the team.
