Mr Quin said: “This is the most important decision we have taken as country in a generation. It is a great honour to be asked to become a PPS (parliamentary aide) in the Department, which has such a vital task to perform.”

According to Parliament’s website a PPS is appointed by a minister to be his or her assistant.
