Horsham district bin collections over festive period

Rubbish and recycling collection days change from this week for the Christmas and New year period in the Horsham district.

Horsham District Council says that additional collections of the blue-top bins have been organised to help residents cope with the extra Christmas packaging.

To allow for this, brown-top bin collections will be suspended from Thursday 25th December to Saturday 10th January 2015.

The collection crews will be working additional Saturdays in order to catch up.

In the following list the normal collection day is followed by the revised collection day:

Thursday 25th December - Tuesday 30th December

Friday 26th December - Wednesday 31st December

Tuesday 30th December - Friday 2nd January

Wednesday 31st December - Saturday 3rd January

Thursday 1st January - Tuesday 6th January

Friday 2nd January - Wednesday 7th January

Tuesday 6th January - Thursday 8th January

Wednesday 7th January - Friday 9th January

Thursday 8th January - Saturday 10th January

Friday 9th January - Tuesday 13th January

Tuesday 13th January - Wednesday 14th January

Wednesday 14th January - Thursday 15th January

Thursday 15th January - Friday 16th January

Friday 16th January - Saturday 17th January

All collections will be back to normal from Tuesday 20th January 2015.

The recycling centres at Horsham (Hop Oast) and Billingshurst HWRS will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Normal operating hours will resume on 1st January.

Wrapping paper:

Foil or plastic wrapper cannot be recycled. The council asks people to remove any sellotape, ribbon or bows from paper wrapping paper before placing it in the blue-top recycling bin.

Christmas cards and tags:

Cards and tags can be placed in the blue-top bin for recycling - remove any strings or ribbons.

Christmas Trees:

Artificial trees cannot be recycled, however they can be disposed of at the local tip. Real Christmas trees can also be disposed of at the tip or be cut into pieces and placed in the brown-top garden waste bin.

The council asks that all recycling is kept clean, dry and loose this festive season. Additional recycling or rubbish that is not contained within the bin cannot be taken.
