Last year, Max Caunhye bought the car of his dreams - a 1972 mark 1 Ford Escort, from the Discovery Channel’s ‘Wheeler Dealers’.

The immaculate bodywork restored by the show’s motor specialist Ed China is a perfect example of the car that was first unleashed on the UK market in 1967.

The yellow and black leather interior vehicle was also Max’s late father’s favourite model, who tragically died of cancer, and in his memory Max has decided to donate a portion of the eBay auction’s profits to Cancer Research UK.

“I am now trying to raise money for Cancer Research by donating funds above a reserve price.”

Currently live on ebay.co.uk and with a secret reserve, the Ford Escort is currently more than £13,000 (as of Tuesday March 4) and has continued to generate interest.

“The car has had three owners including me and has the original strut tops. The shell is very, very strong and good. I have driven 2,500 in the last year and enjoyed every mile, it keeps up with modern traffic but is not as quiet or comfortable - remember it’s 42 years old!

“For those of you that did not see the show, the car has new brake discs in the front with 2.8 Capri front strut legs and an ATB Quaife Limited Slip Differential for old skool sideways fun.”

Features also include electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, new fuel lines and new battery.
