Voting for the best business window or market stall display this year, as part of Horsham town centre’s festive ‘Dressed for Success’ campaign, gives visitors the chance to win a 22” LED television from the Sony Centre store in Horsham or a fabulous travel prize, courtesy of Thomas Cook.

The weekend of November 17 marks Horsham as officially ‘dressed’ for Christmas and visitors to the town centre are encouraged to get voting for their favourite window display or market stall, with the chance of winning one of a number of terrific prizes.

The ‘Dressed for Success’ initiative is now entering its third year of a five year vision, managed by Horsham Unlimited - the town centre’s business partnership - with key stakeholder Horsham District Council co-ordinating the arrangements for various elements of the programme.

Between Saturday November 17 and Monday December 24, residents and visitors to the town can vote for any type of business in Horsham town, either with a window or market stall display.

Retailers, non retail premises, property agents, cafés, restaurants bars, pubs and market stalls – they are all eligible to take part and win votes.

Horsham District Council’s cabinet ember for communication, special projects and Horsham town, Helena Croft, said: “With all the preparations that have been put into this in recent years and a huge amount of effort from our local Horsham town businesses to draw in customers, we can expect Horsham Christmas shoppers, once again, to see some really excellent window displays!

“Happy shopping everyone!”

The last few weeks have seen all types of businesses in the bustling market town raising their game and working hard to get their displays highly attractive to the consumer, in preparation for facing the public vote.

October saw a number of businesses taking part in a ‘Meta-shop’ coaching session, delivered by the project training partner and retail specialists Metamorphosis and subsidised through the kind support of lead sponsor Spofforths Chartered Accountants.

Vote on Facebook, via www.horshamunlimited.co.uk, where there is information on all the town’s seasonal events and activities, or by post.

Voting forms are also available from various outlets in town, plus those businesses with the ‘Vote 4 Us’ floor sticker and can be posted either in Swan Walk (opposite BHS), Piries Place (Waitrose), Horsham Museum (The Causeway), or at the Horsham Markets Information Stand in the Carfax on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Many of the town’s businesses have got behind the campaign by registering to receive a free Dressed for Success ‘starter pack’, with an aim of encouraging customers to get voting for their business.

The pack includes a supply of voting forms, counter-top point of sale card, staff badges and a new floor sticker – all with the ‘We’re Dressed for Success - Vote 4 Us’ branding.

Look out for the stickers around town, although any business can be voted for, regardless.

Voting closes at midnight on December 24 and remember to choose carefully; voting is restricted to just one vote per person.

The prize winners will be advised in the week starting January 7 with the winner of the first prize invited to receive their award at the ‘Dressed for Success Awards’ event in January.

Gill Buchanan, chair of Horsham Unlimited, said: “This now annual campaign encourages people to support their local businesses, value their stores and ‘shop local’ every Christmas, ensuring Horsham continues to be the vibrant town it is today.”
