Horsham bank raises money for charity in ‘Tea and Talk’ event

Staff from Horsham’s Halifax branch hosted a ‘Tea and Talk’ event on Tuesday September 9 in a bid to raise vital money for Alzheimer’s charities.

The day raised more than £140 from customers and staff, who donated in return for hot drinks and homemade cakes.

There are 1,420 people in Horsham living with dementia and the Carfax branch are supporting the Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Scotland in two pioneering schemes.

The money raised will support Alzheimer’s Society’s Live Well Programme, which supports and educates people living with dementia and their carers, as well as the Dementia Research Leaders Programme.

Keiren George, banking consultant at Halifax in Horsham said it is important for his colleagues to understand dementia and how it affects their customers.

He said: “By working closely with Alzheimer’s Society, we are working to help make the banking sector more dementia-friendly.”

Jon Bodenham, director of fundraising at Alzheimer’s Society thanked the bank for their contribution.

He added: “The money raised will help improve quality of life for the 850,000 people living with dementia and their carers, and continue important research into finding a cure.”

Alzheimer’s Society are the only UK charity to directly fund research into the cause, care, cure and prevention of all types of dementia.
