Children and their parents and carers enjoyed three afternoons playing outside using a car-free car park in Horsham during the summer holidays.
Brighton Road Baptist Church put a temporary ban on cars using their car park and welcomed local children to come and play outside. The idea was inspired by the successful national “Playing Out” initiative. (www.playingout.net).
By making this large space available for safe play, the children enjoyed scooting, skipping, hopscotch, giant junk modelling and traditional playground games.
Information was also available about the playschool and other indoor activities for families that take place at the church throughout the rest of the year.
