RSA has been awarded Horsham District Council’s (HDC) Gold Workplace Health Award in recognition of its efforts to sustain a healthy workplace at its offices in Horsham.
This is only the second gold award to be issued by the council and Debbie Bourne, RSA Wellbeing Champion, and Nicola Carver, RSA Site Leader in Horsham, received the award on Monday February 4 2013.
Helena Croft, cabinet member for Horsham Town, presented the certificate to RSA.
The Horsham District Healthy Workplace Award is a process for business improvement designed to provide practical support, tools, advice and assistance to any business that wants to look after the wellbeing of its key asset – its people.
RSA has achieved real progress in developing comprehensive support systems for its employees from flexible hours and benefit trading to safe cycle storage and showers.
Employees have also created extensive health information pages on the intranet and a wellbeing room in which activity classes are regularly held at lunchtimes. Healthy lunches are available at the company restaurant and hydration is easy with free vending machines and numerous breakout areas with kitchen facilities.
Commenting on the award, Tony Bough, health & safety manager of RSA, said: “It’s important to us that we create a productive work environment for our employees and this award is testament to the work we have done.
“Investing in the wellbeing of our most important resource is really key to our success in keeping RSA as one of the top UK businesses. We are really grateful for all the efforts of our Wellbeing Champion Debbie Bourne in securing this award.”
Sue Rogers, cabinet member for Safer and Healthier District, said: “RSA is setting a great example of what can be done and how important it is to invest in its staff even in difficult financial times.
“Whilst recognising success, the award process offers lots of help for any business to improve productivity and reduce costs. We are delighted RSA have really pulled out all the stops to show what can be done.”
