Students from The Weald School in Billingshurst are celebrating the best GCSE results in the school’s 56-year history today.
71 per cent of students gained five or more GCSEs at A to-C including English and Maths, while 93 per cent of students achieved five or more GCSEs at A* to C.
Headteacher Peter Woodman said: “Today was another really uplifting day at The Weald. It was fantastic to see the looks on student faces as they opened envelopes to see their results and that the hard work that they have put over the last three years has paid off.
“Getting good results opens doors and gives choices to their next phase of education. The results show another significant step forward in achievement for us as a school. Most pleasing was that students across the whole ability range have done well and reached and exceeded their targets.”
Top performers included Sean Ashworth with ten A*s and one A and Laura Appleton, Thea Graves, Priya Sodha, Lauren Barr with nine A*s and one A.
Mr Woodman added: “We have been thrilled with the depth of highest performers this year with over 20 per cent of the year group achieving eight or more A* or A grades.
