Future of Horsham's Cloth Store revealed

The building previously home to the Cloth Store, in the Carfax.

The company moved out of the unit, in the Carfax, back in February last year after 24 years of trading in the town.

The shop has since hosted the British Heart Foundation’s Poppy Appeal and was home to several of Horsham Rotary Club’s Elephantastic elephants but has not had a full-time occupier for almost a year.

However, this week Horsham estate agents Courtney Green, which owns the unit next door, confirmed it had bought the store as part of an expansion project.

Steven Greenfield, joint managing director of Courtney Green, said the company were looking to get planning permission to join the two buildings together and create more space for the businesses.

He said: “We are very excited to be taking over the unit.

“It is one of those thing we have wanted to do for a long time.

“There are around 20 people in the current building at the moment so we are giving ourselves some more space.”

The downstairs will be taken over by the company’s letting department, whilst the upstairs will be home to the block management team.

Mr Greenfield said the purchase had cost the company a lot of money as was a statement to show it was ‘well and truly’ staying in the High Street.

He said: “We are pleased to be expanding in a time where others are looking to get rid of their premises and go online.

“We feel our business thrives in the high street and we want to be in the high street.”

He added he hoped the building would be ready in time for the company to move in by April.
