Cycling celebrity Anna Glowinski will be at a drop-in event in Partridge Green this month celebrating the West Sussex countryside.

Anna has presented The Cycle Show on ITV4 and the Street Velodrome coverage on Channel 4.

The free event takes place on Sunday September 27 at Stan’s Bike Shack in Partridge Green, from 9 am to 12 noon.

Everyone coming along can have a free coffee and cake, or a soft drink and cake for children – just bring along a voucher (on your phone or printed) to claim your free refreshments, available from

Also at the event will be West Sussex County Council’s ‘Doctor Bike’ service - a mobile bike mechanic who will be able to carry out free cycle health checks, balance bikes for children to try out and free bike marking from Sussex Police to help prevent cycle theft.

There will also be a ‘show and ride’ competition with prizes to be won on the day in different categories for people to enter, including ‘best kid’s bike’.

The drop-in event is part of West Sussex Weekends, a campaign to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy and share favourite walking and cycling routes in the county.

Leader of West Sussex County Council Louise Goldsmith said: “We’d love to see as many people at the event as possible. If you are out for a cycle that morning, do drop in, or perhaps you could plan a family ride on the Downs Link and stop off at Stan’s Bike Shack.”

The local campaign feeds into a wider Beautiful Outdoors campaign, promoting West Sussex as a destination for tourists from London and the South East. Encouraging people to visit the county is designed to help local businesses and boost the local economy.

Louise added: “The nights might be drawing in and winter fast approaching, but don’t let that stop you getting out and exploring the West Sussex countryside on your doorstep.

“We have lots to offer whatever the weather, from countryside to coast and so many local businesses offering fabulous food and drink.”
