The future of Cowfold Post Office is up in the air after a spokesperson confirmed the shop is for sale.
From the end of next month, the building will not ‘be available for Post Office use’, the spokesperson added.
It is currently unknown whether there will be a post office in the village from the end of July.
The Post Office spokesperson said: “The Postmaster for Cowfold has decided to resign and the premises will no longer be available for Post Office use from the end of July.
“The shop is up for sale. We are committed to maintaining Post Office services in Cowfold and we are exploring different ways to provide that service.
“We are committed to maintaining a Post Office in Cowfold. We want a Post Office in Cowfold and we are looking to see how a service can be provided.”
The nearest alternative branch is in High Street, Partridge Green, which is two and a half miles away from Cowfold.
Customers can also visit post offices in Henfield and Southwater, both of which are more than four miles away.
