A football club team is set to tackle a long-distance charity challenge . . . playing golf.

The 10-strong group from Icklesham Casuals in Sussex will play 36 holes over nine courses in nine counties all in one day (Monday July 7).

Slinfold Golf and Country Club is backing the challenge by allowing the group to play four holes.

By completing the task the team will be raising money for two causes: Macmillan Cancer Support and a new community sports facility in Icklesham village.

In order to raise as much as possible the club is seeking individuals and businesses to sponsor one hole – or more – at £10 a time.

The club has pledged that if the amount raised hits £2,250 it will add a further £1,000 to bring the total to £3,250.

The challenge will take in Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Essex and Kent.

For more details or to sponsor a hole go to the club website, contact Bob Baker on 07974 419738 or David Mayne on 07742 488785 or email the club at
