A burst water main caused Rudgwick Primary School to close for the entirety of the day.

Flooding played havoc with the A29 near Pulborough, while many roads in and around Horsham were severely congested as commuters struggled to get to work on time.

Two Horsham residents decided to skip the morning commute and enjoyed canoeing on the temporary ‘Lake Bedford’ near the railway station.

At the end of the day Horsham’s Worthing Road was closed to allow pumps to clear water from the railway line.

Further heavy rain and gusting winds are forecast for tomorrow (Tuesday January 7) according to the Met Office.
