Fire hydrant tampering leads to discoloured water in Horsham
Some households in Horsham are experiencing discoloured water - but Southern Water has reassured residents the water is '˜wholesome'.
The problem was caused by someone accessing a fire hydrant without permission in Parsonage Road.
A spokesperson for Southern Water said discolouration occurred as a lot of water was taken quickly, causing disturbance to pipes.
The spokesperson said: “Although it doesn’t look very nice, the water is wholesome and you can continue to use it as normal.
“We would like to remind customers that uncontrolled use of a fire hydrant is illegal.”
