Fire breaks out in Duncton

Firefighters from Chichester, Petworth and Billingshurst were alerted to the incident at just before 6.30pm.

Midhurst Fire Station said: “Crews worked hard alongside colleagues from Chichester Fire Station, Petworth Fire Station and Billingshurst Fire Station using breathing apparatus, hose reels and fognails to bring the fire under control and undertake salvage.”

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 6.23pm on Friday to a fire in a workshop in Duncton. Four crews attended from Chichester, Petworth, Billingshurst and Midhurst.

“Upon arrival crews were confronted with a well-developed fire in a workshop had spread to the roof of an adjacent outbuilding.”

“Crews worked well together using six sets of breathing apparatus, three high pressure hose reels, fog nails and one jet to limit the spread of the fire and carry out salvage operations.”
