Film shot in Horsham proves a hit at Cannes

A Dark Reflection, said to be UK’s most expensive co-operative based film ever made, proved popular with audiences when it had two screenings at the French festival last week.

Assistant producer at Fact Not Fiction Films Sarah Holloway said: “The Cannes host on the door said he’d was amazed as he had never seen so many people at a market screening.

“Everyone I spoke to at the end was highly complimentary of the film.

“However, more importantly they were wanting to discuss the serious health and flight issues raised in the film.”

The fact based thriller follows an investigative journalist whose air traffic controller husband is suspended after a serious in-flight incident.

She uncovers a scandal about the air breathed by passengers in the cabin being laced with engine chemicals - now a real-life controversy.

Director and producer Tristan Loraine had to retire from British Airways on medical grounds.

He said: “One thousand people helped make this film to expose a serious health and flight safety issue that impacts aviation today.

“Funding from crews, crew unions and the travelling public around the world supported them.

“People who all want the film to help make air travel safer for everyone including the unborn.”

After the screening he added: “Without the support in the community we will never have been able to make this film.

“We are working to arrange a private VIP screening in Horsham, so everyone who helped, will be able to see the film before it is premiered.

“There were also some ‘reviewers & press’ at the screening, so time will tell how it will really be received!

The film was set and filmed in and around the county last year. South Lodge Hotel in Horsham was one of the main bases and an empty office in Piries Place became the home of the Sussex Standard - a fictional paper taking the name of an old County Times brand.
