After five applications were approved for the old Silver Wok site by Horsham District Council’s Development Control North Committee last night (Tuesday July 2), a new shop could open as soon as August or September.

Hament Patel of Elm Grove Stores and Ramish Rasavallavan of St Leonard’s Stores both admitted after the meeting that they could not compete with a Tesco Express store so near to their businesses.

HDC approved applications for a canopy, signage, minor external alterations, changes to vehicular access, and installation of air-conditioning units.

Tesco does not need permission for a change of use as the site was used as a restaurant before.
