Farlington Horse Show is a success

On Saturday 8th October 2016, the Farlington Eventers Challenge show was held at Coombelands Equestrian Centre, Pulborough.

The event itself has taken a year to plan and was co-ordinated by Farlington sixth former, Ella Heron. She undertook the task of organising and running the event as her EPQ (extended project qualification). Ella is also the Farlington Riding Captain.

It was a very early start for many of the team members and competitors, with the first one in at 8:00am sharp due to the many entries received. The day was a major success, with just over 250 competitors from a wide area in the South; placings were highly contested, as it was a qualifier for the NSEA (National Schools Equestrian Association) Hickstead Eventers Challenge Championship, to be held in 2017.

The Farlington girls had a very successful day, having teams in all four classes. In the 70-75cm, we had two teams competing, one consisting of Rosanna Savage, Lucia Mayhew, Lucy Pocock and Georgia Stephens who finished 2nd and also another team of Lucy Bugler, Lucy Harrison and Florence Mckenzie, who finished 5th.

In the next class, the 80-85cm, our team of Lucia Mayhew, Suzie Lunt, Millie Bubb and Clarissa Burnell-Price, won in a class of 17 teams. To top it all off, Millie Bubb won the class as an individual!

The next class, which was the 90-95cm, Farlington riders also went on to win the class. The team consisted of Millie Bubb, Ella Bubb, Clarissa Burnell-Price and Emily Saunders, who received some amazing prizes from one of our sponsors, Equine America.

The final class was the 1m-1.05m and again the team completed amazing rounds over a challenging course but they didn’t let that stop them, as they went on to win again. The team consisted of Ella Bubb, Clarissa BP, Emily Saunders and Ella Heron. Ella Bubb went on to win the class individually.

The day was a huge success in large part thanks to the help of our sponsors, Equine America, For Animals, Carr & Day & Martin, MH Photos and Mayhews. The girls really loved all their wonderful prizes donated by these generous companies.
