FA VASE DRAW: Steyning to host Horsham in derby and Loxwood have home tie

The FA Vase draw has thrown up delightful derby clash with Horsham travelling to Steyning Town in the first round proper.

The two local Southern Combination League sides were pulled out of the hat together in the draw this morning and will face off at The Shooting Field on Saturday, October 31.

Town won 1-0 away at Rochester United on Saturday in the second qualifying round thanks to Craig Knowles’ strike to reach the first round for the first time, while Horsham had to be patient to overcome division-lower Selsey 3-0.

Loxwood’s reward for a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Sussex rivals Arundel on Saturday, is a home time against Reading-based Hellenic Football League Premier Division Highmoor Ibis.

Horsham YMCA were knocked out by Croydon Athletic on Saturday and they will go on to host Beckingham Town, while Broadbridge Heath’s conquerors Newhaven will travel to Andover Town.
