Event to reveal new local research on loneliness

New local research on loneliness and isolation is to be revealed at a conference in early September in Horsham.

There are an estimated 2,000 older people in Horsham district who feel alone, social research suggests.

Around ten per cent of older people feel ‘always’ or ‘severely’ lonely, according to the Campaign to End Loneliness, a coalition of organisations and individuals combating the issue of isolated older people.

Age UK Horsham District will reveal the results of a loneliness and isolation study at a high profile event to be held on Tuesday September 3, at Drill Hall, Horsham, in partnership with West Sussex Public Health Research Unit.
