Decision due on 50 new homes for Billingshurst

Dominion Development’s application on greenfields off Marringdean Road, south of the ‘Cereston’ development of 150 homes currently under construction, will be decided by Horsham District Council’s Development Control South Committee.

In April the committee deferred the application because there was not enough detail in the officers’ report for an application which was seeking full planning permission.

The scheme would include roads, parking areas, landscaping and open spaces.

Of the 50 homes 20 would be affordable with 30 open market.

The planning report recommends to grant approval subject to conditions.

Billinsghurst Parish Council unanimously voted to ‘strongly object’ to the proposal back in January.

Parish councillors felt the development would represent expansion outside of the village boundaries and raised concerns about the impact on sewage, risk of flooding, and road safety issues.

There have been 11 letters of objection from neighbouring residents.

The planning meeting will be held from 2pm at HDC’s office at Park North, North Street.

Other items in the agenda include proposals to build four houses in Pulborough’s Station Road behind Bartram House.
