PLANS for a birthday party music festival in Warnham were withdrawn yesterday (Wednesday) after the organisers spoke with police at a licensing meeting.
Horsham District Council’s licensing committee was due to discuss a temporary event notice for Mischief Mini Festival on land at Bognor Road, from midday on July 9 to 2am on July 10 and midday to midnight on July 10.
There was to be live bands, DJ sets and performance, bars selling alcohol and guests would take their own tents.
Police objected on the grounds of the prevention of crime and disorder.
After discussions with the police, Natalie Smith, one of the organisers, said they wanted to withdraw the application and submit another for an event later in the summer, working with the police and licensing authority.
Committee chairman Christian Mitchell (Con, Holbrook West) issued a notice stopping the event on the basis the organisers had spoken to police and no longer wanted the application to be heard.
