RECYCLING and waste firm, Viridor, has announced the completion of a £25 million investment in West Sussex recycling.

The revamped East Grinstead recycling site is the final project in a seven year programme to deliver a network of modern recycling facilities across the county.

Richard Jenkins, Viridor’s Regional Director for West Sussex, said: “We work with local authorities throughout the UK to maximise their recycling opportunities.

“Through our partnership with West Sussex County Council, we’re on track to meet our contract target of a 45per cent recycling rate for the county three years ahead of schedule.

“The new recycling sites can accept a whole range of household items. From hairdryers to engine oil, children’s bikes to hairdryers. You name it, we can probably recycle it.”

Lionel Barnard, Deputy Leader and portfolio for communities, environment and enterprise said: “Now that our initial investment phase is complete we have a great platform within the County to deliver continued and further improvements to services in the years ahead.

“The focus of all this work has been to improve the service quality that customers experience and I am confident that between ourselves, Viridor and our District and Borough Council partners our customers will continue to benefit.”

Improvements at the sites included purpose built recycling areas; clearer signage and better parking and walkways. All aimed at making it quick, easy and convenient for West Sussex residents to recycle as much as possible.
