Drivers' fury at gridlock through village

Tempers frayed as traffic queues built through Cowfold yesterday and this morning.

Local resident Graham Hazard took these photos, showing roadworks by UK Power Networks on the A272 which closed one side of the busy road.

He said: “Traffic built up right through Cowfold all day Sunday and was there again this morning (Monday). It was gridlocked and the drivers were getting hot and impatient.”

He said angry drivers could be heard shouting expletives as their frustration boiled over.
