Dog lovers are being encouraged to come along and support a Fun Dog Show in Loxwood, from 2pm on Sunday May 12 all in aid of charity.

The Happy Landings Carriage Driving Group for the Disabled has organised the dog show to help raise funds to support its work.

The charity, run by volunteers, gives disabled people the opportunity to drive horses in specially adapted carriages. This gives disabled people the chance to enjoy exercise, freedom and fun and to develop relationships with ponies, drivers and helpers.

The Fun Dog Show is taking place from 2pm at North Hall, Guildford Road, Loxwood and contains categories including ‘Waggiest Tail’, ‘Most handsome dog’ and the ‘Dog the judge would most like to take home’.

The person with the tough job of judging the competition is actor Sue Jameson, from BBC’s News Tricks, who lives in the area with husband and fellow actor James Bolam.

As well as the show there will be fun activities for all the family to get involved in, including dog agility, ‘Jump n Touch’, tombola, refreshments and many other stalls.

Carol Porter, group organiser of Happy Landings Carriage Driving Group for the Disabled, said: “Whilst a small army of volunteers help run the charity from our base in Dunsfold, we still need funds to cover the cost of keeping our two ponies, as well as maintaining the carriages and other equipment.

“This is the second year we’re running the event and it’ll be a great day out. We’d love local people to get involved, bring their dogs and family, and have a good time.”
