Customer anger as bailiffs force town store to close

BAILIFFS have forced the closure of the Mailboxes ETC shop in Horsham due to unpaid rent - leaving enraged customers unable to collect their mail.

The locks were changed on Friday October 21 after the business, based in Piries Place, failed to pay rent to London-based landlords Egan-PAM for nine months.

A sign on the door threatened ‘civil and/or criminal proceedings’ against anyone who attempted to get back into the building.

Owner Matthew Shave told the County Times he is considering legal action against Egan-PAM for obstructing the mail.

And frustrated Mailboxes ETC customers gathered outside the shop to complain that their important mail lay uncollected in mailboxes and on the shop floor.

Items inside were said to include an expensive Italian painting and a shipment of iPhones.

Today the landlord said customers would be able to pick up their mail from 1-4pm on Friday.
